cheap airlines?

I believe it is now possible to get cheap internal flights in India -- can anyone please give me some info about this? Presumably there are websites...?
Thanks and love to you all

Kingfisher is a very good low cost airline. Peaceful and quite regular. Book early for good discounts. Nice fleet of A320s.

Jet is a little more expensive but just as helpful and regular. Has a couple of international flights too.

Other major airlines are Indian Airlines (bit uncomfy)

Air Deccan (dicey - not too punctual, thin service, but very very cheap)

There are a couple of others, like Spice Jet and GoAir that fly specific routes... But I've mentioned the big players that cover most sectors.

It's quite simple to fly by air these days and go city hopping. U can land here and wing it, if need be.

hahaha... no such thing 'bout the wing, cos then the fatalaties would be in print.

but they have a bit of a record of mild technical glitches and delays. but thats offset by the 'low cost' apparently, which still baffles me.

i think one of the turboprop planes skidded off the runway in b'lore though. it did a light one-two bump on landing and then nose dived into the tarmac. but not to worry - everyone got a refund!!!

reminds me of the paul character's speech in motortown about why airlines make you take the brace position in emergencies. muahahahaha. wicked...

Thanks, you two! I think I will avoid Deccan...Yes, I have thought about the line in Motortown about the brace position -- it does rather stick in the mind, especially when on a plane as I was last weekend.
My dates -- well, I plan to spend August in India, basically, though I haven't booked anything yet. I will fly into Bombay, but what happens then depends on Vasind etc. Have thought of possibly visiting Bangalore, but want to spend some time in Kerala. Exciting.
